My name is Julia and I am in Japan as a German
exchange student.
A little while ago I had the chance to go
strawberry picking in Kōfu together with some friends.
I’ve been strawberry picking as a child in Germany,
too, but it is so different here!
We usually only plant strawberries in fields
outside. That’s why strawberry season is from May to July.
But here in Japan, strawberry season is from
December until February. The reason is that strawberries are mainly planted
inside in tents.
Rather than on the ground, they are planted on
little hills so they are easier for customers to pick.
We also all got a little tray with sweet condensed
milk to dip the strawberries in. It was so, so good! I’m drooling just
remembering it. (^q^)
If you have some time left this winter you should
definitely try it sometime!
